Zur Detail-Ansicht...On the same day as Apple announced the rollout of its iOS Game Center platform for next week, Aurora Feint, creator of the OpenFeint social network for iPhone/iPod Touch, says it will enable real-time multiplayer gameplay between iOS and Android devices later this year with OpenFeint PlayTime. The new developer tools will also allow real-time voice chat during gameplay across both mobile platforms.
"Traditionally, multiplayer technology has been accessible only to top tier developers. It's just too complicated and time consuming," Aurora Feint CEO Jason Citron said in the announcement....

Apple debuted several new devices at a news conference today, including a new model of iPod Touch with a distinct focus on multiplayer gaming. The device includes the Game Center app, which serves as a back-end to multiplayer games similar to the features found on Xbox Live or PlayStation Network. Players can meet up with friends or choose random opponents, purchase games from within the app, launch games, or check out achievements and leaderboards. The Game Center app will also keep users connected to their friends lists as they launch into other game applications.

The developer is calling it "Chinatown Wars HD," thanks to its crisper, updated graphics. Named Project Sword, the game looks to be a multiplayer game revolving around sword-based combat. The game is being developed by Shadow Compex developer Chair Entertainment.

Valve sure knows how to keep its audience guessing. Company co-founder and managing director Gabe Newell recently sat down with the UK's PC Gamer magazine and discussed what's on the horizon for the Half-Life developer.
"I can guarantee you people are going to be surprised at stuff we do. That isn't going to stop any time soon," Newell told PC Gamer (via CVG). "I'm just laughing because... people will be shocked again."

At Sony's IFA 2010 press event in Berlin this morning, Sony clarified yesterday's rumor by announcing that its cloud-based digital music and video service Qriocity will be expanding to the PlayStation 3 later this year.
The service is currently available on most of Sony's current Bravia televisions and Blu-ray players, though today's announcement on the European PlayStation Blog is the first official word we've heard of it coming to the company's game consoles.
